The Trump Betrayal: US Money to Aid Russian War Against Ukraine

President Trump's recent actions with Russia represent a profound shift in American foreign policy.

Dating back to the end of World War II, the United States has stood opposed to Russia's authoritarian attempts to dominate the Eastern Hemisphere. Now, the administration has struck a deal with Vladimir Putin, temporarily waiving sanctions that were designed to keep Russian aggression in check and penalize the invasion of Ukraine.

Presumably aimed at lowering domestic energy prices ahead of the upcoming midterm elections, this agreement allows for the import of hundreds of thousands of tons of Russian diesel.

Critics argue this provides Moscow with millions of dollars in revenue, creating a financial lifeline for Putin's war effort.

Meanwhile, the administration has restricted intelligence sharing with Kyiv and pressured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to halt attacks on Russian energy infrastructure, even as Russian forces continue their devastating strikes on Ukrainian territory.

These abrupt actions have caught international allies by surprise, threatening to hand Russia a critical advantage in a war it initiated. This approach defies decades of strategic coordination with our European partners and undermines a long-standing commitment to push back against authoritarian regimes.

This effort to suppress fuel prices at home comes at a steep geopolitical cost, presenting a severe overreach that demands congressional intervention. We cannot turn our backs on our allies. This policy upends more than 80 years of global alliances that maintain stability both in the United States and abroad, paving the way for the further erosion of NATO and the security of our closest military partners.

It is vital to participate in the upcoming November 3rd elections and support candidates who will exercise the necessary legislative oversight to challenge these dangerous actions.
